Earthism Part 3 (Ch 2) Economism and the Challenge of Earthism

Earthism Part 3
How does the ecological Earthist movement create message of hope?

In chapter 2 of John Cobb's book "The Earthist Challenge to Economism", Cobb compares the movements of economism and Earthism.

Here are my notes from the book

The first main point for me is that Cobb believes the modern concern for the Earth is not just a recurrence of the earth centered religions of pre-civilization Hunter gatherer groups.  It is distinctly different because of a different way of practically operating in the world with different science of Hunter gatherers and modern people.

The crucial point Cobb makes at the end of the chapter is that Economism's message does offer hope to the poor and rich, by opportunity to accumulate wealth.  Earthism does not have a hopeful message, just avoiding catastrophe does not motivate people to abandon Economism and consumer culture.

My question is

How does the ecological Earthist movement create message of hope?
