Pleasure and transformation. What a counter-cultural, revolutionary, and subversive idea! Transformation comes from sacrifice and denial of the body--that is what I was taught in many ascetic practices professing to lead to enlightenment. But, after a lifetime of seeking the intellect, avoiding my feelings, sacrificing my selfish desires, and chasing the perfect ideal good I felt my inner garden lay barren, gray, and abandoned.
Then,in a profound way, I discovered evolution. I found out that my body does not go to heaven; instead I found out that my body transforms the evolution of this universe! I fell in love with stars and quarks and protons and my body. I felt pleasure in the universe story and I feel transformed. I can't wait for the time when pleasure is claimed by the human family as part of our cosmic birthright. And today, what a bright, green, wet delicious inner garden I feel here in our home of outrageous lovers. We create unique self symphony to evolve the world.
